| RICHARD S HOCKETT, MBA, DTM |
| Professional Photographer, Business Coach, Educator Richard’s received his first camera at age 6 - a Kodak Brownie: which he still has… and still works – and was instantly bitten by the photography bug. “I was born to the business. My father was a commercial photographer and I was helping in the dark room from the time I was six.” Richard attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois, as well as Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration and minors in Marketing and Economics. During his college years, Richard’s parents and brothers moved to Hong Kong, enabling Richard to travel to the Pacific Rim multiple times. In 1981, photography became Richard’s central focus when, out of necessity, passion turned into a career. In 1982, Richard opened Precious Moments Studio in Round Lake, Illinois. "I photographed more than 650 weddings in a ten year span of time. In addtion to the weddings, there were countless pre-school children, proms, corporate events, High School Seniors, and youth sports leagues, etc.. I loved every minute of it because of the people I met!” In 1986, Richard transplanted himself, wife, and studio, to Southern California; eventually settling in Oxnard, California where he continued to take on wedding and portrait work until 1991. Richard earned his MBA (with honors) from California Lutheran University, in 2002. Today, Richard teaches marketing and economics at Brooks Institute, is a frequent guest lecturer at California Lutheran University, as well as continuing to present organizational training sessions on Leadership, Communications, and Marketing, and to coach individuals and businesses to new levels of success. However, the photography bug would not go away - passion overruling common sense - and in 2007 Richard began laying the ground work for SunRidge Photo. The business keeps progressing at a rapid pace; recently, a new workshop focusing on HDR Imaging was added to SunRidge Photo's training and business coaching services. Richard's images have been featured in the premeire release of Road Trip (a joint Brooks Institute and Barber Driving Experience venture); on Red Line Tme Attack's website; in the book: Promises Fulfilled; as well as being featured in the upcoming book, Lodi on the Label Whether coaching, teaching, or capturing the moment with his camera, Richard enjoys helping others discover value and live their dreams. His purpose for living… YOUR SUCCESS! Richard and his wife Nenen, make their home in Oxnard, CA. |
